Madelyn Gowler is a Winnipeg-based, queer artist working across film, photography, textiles, and installation. Their materially driven practice explores memory and image transformation through hands-on processes and repurposed materials.
Gowler’s films have screened internationally at Engauge Experimental Film Festival in Seattle and at the Experiments in Cinema festival in New Mexico, with additional presentations at aceartinc. and the Dave Barber Cinematheque. They are a recipient of numerous grants and awards from the Canada Council for the Arts and the Manitoba Arts Council, and have been selected for residencies at the Riding Mountain Artist Residency and the Fish Factory – Creative Center of Stöðvarfjörður in Iceland.
