Ela Wasney is a Winnipeg-based artist working across text, sculpture, and material-based practices. Using found and reworked texts from roadside signage and everyday sources, Wasney transforms language into physical objects shaped by memory and lived experience. Rooted in her working-class upbringing, her practice invites recognition and connection, offering viewers moments of familiarity and reflection through shared cultural language.
Wasney presented her first solo exhibition, Motorvangelism (2024), at La Maison des artistes visuels francophones. She has received numerous academic awards for her work, has been featured in international publications, including Suboart Magazine, and her work is held in private collections across North America.
